MerCruiser engines power different classes of boat.

Mercury Marine manufactures MerCruiser boat engines. They are divided into Turn-Key Start (TKS) or Multiport Injection (MPI) models. All run on 87-octane fuel.

Turn-Key Start

The TKS group includes four MerCruiser models. Each has a two-valve carburetor and a throttle range of 4,400 to 4,800 revolutions per minute (rpm).

The 3.0 L has 135 horsepower. The 4.3 L is a V6 with 190 horsepower. The 5.0 L is a V8 with 220 horsepower. The 5.7 L is a V8 with 250 horsepower.

Multiport Injection (MPI), 3.0 L to 5.0 L

The MerCruiser models in this multiport fuel-injection group range from 3.0 L to 5.0 L.

The 3.0 L model has 135 horsepower and a throttle range of 4,400 to 4800 rpm. The 4.3 L model is a V6 with 220 horsepower and a throttle range of 4,400 to 4,800 rpm. The 5.0 L model is a V8 with 260 horsepower and a throttle range of 4,600 to 5,000 rpm.

Multiport Injection (MPI) MAG Models

There are seven MerCruiser models in the MAG group.

The 350 MAG is a V8 with 300 horsepower, a throttle range of 4,800 to 5,200 rpm and multipoint electronic fuel injection. The 377 MAG is a V8 with 320 horsepower, a throttle range of 4,800 to 5,200 rpm and multipoint electronic fuel injection. The 496 MAG is a V8 with 375 horsepower, a throttle range of 4,400 to 4,800 rpm and sequential multipoint electronic fuel injection. The 496 MAG HO is a V8 with 425 horsepower, a throttle range of 4,600 to 5,000 rpm and sequential multipoint electronic fuel injection. The 8.2 MAG is a V8 with 380 horsepower, a throttle range of 4,400 to 4,800 rpm and multipoint electronic fuel injection. The 8.2 MAG HO is a V8 with 430 horsepower, a throttle range of 4,600 to 5,000 rpm and sequential multipoint electronic fuel injection. The 350 MAG is a V8 with 300 horsepower, a throttle range of 4,800 to 5,200 rpm and multipoint electronic fuel injection.
