If you enjoy cooking with wine or having a glass of wine at dinner, chances are you've amassed a collection of wine corks. Many people collect their old wine corks, as some are attractive and have been stamped with the name of their vineyard. If you're looking for an interesting way to reuse those old wine corks, try making decorative ornaments with them. Not only are they easy to make, but they make the perfect Christmas gift for your wine-loving friends.
Step 1
Drill a lengthwise hole through the center of a cork using a small bit drill.

Step 2
Slide a few decorative beads over the loop of the tassel.
Step 3
Cut a 1 foot piece of ribbon and slip one end of it into the tassel loop above the beads you just put in place. Bring the ends of the ribbon together.
Step 4
Thread the ribbon through the hole of the darning needle, bringing it up through the center of the cork. Pull until the beads and tassel are in direct contact with the cork.
Step 5
Slip a few more decorative beads over the ribbon and then knot the ribbon an inch or two up, leaving enough of a loop so the ornament can be placed on a Christmas tree.
Step 6
Cut any excess ribbon that is located above the knot.
Step 7
Using a fast-acting adhesive, glue the beads to the top and bottom of the cork. This will help them stay centered and in place over the years.
Tip
You can purchase no fray products at craft stores that are designed to prevent your ribbons from fraying when you cut them. If you don't want to use such a product, you can alternatively use a lighter to singe the ends of the ribbon to prevent fraying.
Warning
Drilling a hole into the cork can be quite dangerous if you're holding the cork in your hand. Steady the cork using a vice or have a friend hold the cork in a vise grip.
