Stir up this recipe for bubble "juice" and get ready to make bubbles as big as a Volkswagen. You can make this solution with ingredients already in your kitchen or readily available at the grocery store, in about 10 minutes. You will, however, get the best results if you let the mixture rest for 24 hours before using it.

Tip

Some bubble makers disagree about whether it's necessary to use distilled water versus plain tap water, but in our experience, distilled water is best.

Step 2: Dish Soap

Add 12 ounce regular Dawn dish soap to the distilled water. We love Dawn for bubbles, but other brands may work as well as long as you avoid ultra or extra concentrated versions.

Step 5: Glycerin or Corn Syrup

Add 2 ounces glycerin. Although we find that glycerin works best, 1/2 cup of corn syrup will also work.

Tip

You can find glycerin in the cake decorating area of a craft store or at a pharmacy.

Step 6: Stir

Carefully stir to combine ingredients. Be GENTLE with the mix. Do not over agitate and create a foam. Be GENTLE with the mix. The solution will be cloudy and some of the corn starch will settle to the bottom. This is fine.

Step 7: Marinate

This bubble "juice" works best if you let it rest for at least 24 hours before using it. Cover with a screen to keep the mixture clean, but do not seal with a tight fitting cover as exposure to the air improves its performance. Stir gently before use.
