What's the best thing about winter? Snow, of course! After a day of snowmen, snow angels, and snowball fights, bring the fun inside with this quick and easy snow cream recipe. Let it snow!
Things You'll Need
Large bowl of fresh, clean snow (Light powder is best)
1 cup of heavy cream
1 cup of confectioner’s sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Step 1: Gather Your Snow
Fill a large bowl with fresh, powdery snow. DO NOT PACK DOWN. Keep the snow light and loose in the bowl. You can put it in the freezer or keep it outside while you make the cream mixture.
Warning
Check snow for dirt or contaminants when collecting. The best snow to use is fresh fallen snow away from roads or highways. And it goes without saying, but... don't use yellow snow.
Step 2: Mix the Cream and Sugar
Combine the cream, vanilla, and powdered sugar in a large bowl and whisk until thoroughly blended and all the sugar is dissolved.
Step 3: Combine the Cream and Snow
In a separate large bowl, measure out about 4 cups of snow, keeping the snow light and loose. Pour the cream mixture over the snow and LIGHTLY mix together.
Step 4: Add More Snow
Add more snow, one or two scoops at a time until the snow cream reaches a light, fluffy, ice cream consistency. Work quickly, and try not to over-stir.
Step 5: Customize!
You can treat snow cream just like ice cream and add your favorite sprinkles, fruit, nuts or chocolate sauce.
Tip
Standard ice cream flavors can be easily adapted to snow cream. Chocolate, strawberry, maple walnut, all will make great snow cream! Just substitute your favorite recipe for the cream mixture in step 3.
