You can make a program for any event with a basic word processing software such as Word, Microsoft Works or OpenOffice. There are two ways to make a program using word processing software. Some word processing programs have pre-made templates that you can fill in with your information. If the software doesn't have this option, you can make a program from scratch.

Making a Program Using a Template

Step 1

Open your word processing software. Under the File menu, select the new project option. When the pop-up screen appears that asks what size you would like your project, choose the greeting card option if your software gives you a list of pre-made templates.

Step 2

Use the template to place your text. Most templates will have sample text that you can click on and replace with your own text. On the inside right-hand side of the program add the pertinent information about the event that the guests will need to know. You could include a welcome message, list of participants and times or order of events that will take place.

Step 4

Add a text box to the right side of the card and add the name of the event. This can be centered at the top of the program or at the bottom. Use the Insert option of your word processing software to add an image either above or below the text, depending on where the text is placed.

Step 5

Print the program by clicking the two-sided printing option under the "Printing Preference" option in the "Print" pop-up screen. This will print one side of the program, and then it will give you a chance to reload the paper into the printer so that the other side of the program can be printed on the other side of the paper.

Tip

Make sure the font you use in the card matches the font of the invitations to the event.
