Things You'll Need
Posterboard
List of Tarot card meanings
Scissors
Laminating film
Regular deck of playing cards
Tarot is a deck of 78 card used in fortune telling. Making your own set of cards can give you a deeper connection to your cards. The meanings become clearer because you can interpret the images easier -- after all they are your own images.
Step 1
Using the regular deck of playing cards, trace the shape of the card onto the poster board. While some tarot decks are different sizes, using a regular deck makes sure you are able to shuffle the cards easily. Cut out the cards making sure that you follow the lines exactly to keep all the cards perfectly even. Create 78 blank cards.

Step 2
If you have an image you would like to put on the back of the card, you can draw it or you can print it from your computer and glue it to the back of each card.
Step 3
Read up on the meaning of each card. Decide what images you want to use to represent each meaning. Draw or print and glue each image on the cards. Take your time with this. Each person has a different idea of what image represents the meaning of the card. You don't have to just go with the "norm." Find what works for you. These are your cards after all.
Step 4
Laminate all your cards. This will keep them safe from spills, dirt and fading. Laminating also toughens them up a bit more, and that helps with easier shuffling.
Tip
In the tarot suits, cups can also be known as chalices. Pentacles can also be coins or disks. Wands can also be staves or sticks. Swords can also be arrows or rods. Nothing is set in stone. You need to choose what works for you. If you feel like inventing your own suits and images and meanings of the cards, by all means do so. It's your deck to do with what you wish.
