I made some pretty pink and white lotion bars to get skin ready for summer. Lotion bars are solid, but they melt at body temperature. The combination of beeswax, coconut oil, shea butter and sweet almond oil is a great way to moisturize and soften skin. I tinted the tops of these lotion bars a light pink color and added some grapefruit oil to give them a fresh scent.

Step 2
Pour the pink mixture into the decorative mold or use a syringe to fill it more precisely. I found these vintage fluted metal molds at a second-hand shop.
Step 3
To make the lotion bar look like a flower on top, fill only the small cavities in the bottom of the mold. Allow the pink layer to Harden.
Step 4
Next, melt 2 tablespoons of white beeswax pellets, 2 tablespoon coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of shea butter and 1/2 teaspoon of sweet almond oil in a glass bowl, in a pan of simmering water. Remove from heat and stir in 10 drops of essential oil, if desired. Working quickly, divide the mixture between the molds. Place the molds in the freezer for a few minutes to allow the lotion bars to harden. Remove from the freezer, tip the molds over and tap them on the countertop. The lotion bars should pop right out.
Step 5
A waxed paper bag is an easy way to give the lotion bars as gifts. Cut a piece of waxed paper about 8 inches by 6 inches. Fold the two short sides so that they overlap in the middle. Use craft glue or double sided tape to hold them together. Fold up the bottom and glue it in place. Leave the top of the bag open.
Step 6
Put the lotion bars into the bags, fold the top of the bag down and use a piece of washi tape to secure it.
To use a lotion bar, rub it in your hands or glide it over dry skin and it will melt on contact. Rub the oils into your skin. Store lotion bars in a cool place that is out of direct sunlight.
