While I love classic tiramisu with its coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone filling, you can never go wrong with another classic flavor combo: strawberries and cream! With six main ingredients, these are a great treat to make the day before or the day of an event.

By using premade lady fingers, you save some time, and you really can't mess up these cute personal cakes! This recipe doesn't use mascarpone and is egg-free, so it makes your grocery shopping easier, and everyone is welcome to have a bite.

Add all the strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice to a saucepan. Cook until it becomes jamlike. There should be about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of compote after cooking down.

Tip

In this recipe, we control the sugar amount in the compote (which also can be considered jam), but alternatively, you can use your favorite brand of already-made strawberry jam.

2. Soak the lady fingers

While the compote is cooling, make the strawberry milk. Mix together 3 Tbsp. strawberry compote and 1/2 cup whole milk. Add one drop of food coloring if you want to give it a nice pink color.
