There's nothing quite like homemade fudgy brownies. But if you don't want to bake a full batch or you're low on ingredients, try making this single-serving mug version instead.
Not only does the recipe yield enough brownie for one person but it takes just minutes (yes, minutes) to make. The trick is to use the right proportion of ingredients and cook the brownie in the microwave.

With that in mind, be sure to use a microwave-safe mug. The recipe works best with a mug between 10 and 12 oz., but it's OK if it's bigger. You'll just need to add more toppings to fill it up!
Baking for One: Brownie in a Mug
Things You'll Need
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup white sugar
2 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
1 pinch salt
2 Tbsp. canola or vegetable oil
1/4 cup water or milk
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
2 Tbsp. chocolate chips
Vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, strawberries or chocolate syrup, for garnish
1. Mix dry ingredients
In a microwave-safe mug, add the all-purpose flour, white sugar, cocoa powder and salt. Mix well.
2. Add wet ingredients
Add the canola oil, water and vanilla extract. Mix until thoroughly combined.
3. Fold in chocolate chips
Fold in chocolate chips plus any other add-ins you'd like. Delicious ideas include butterscotch chips, chopped nuts or nut butter.
4. Microwave
Microwave on high for 90 seconds. If needed, keep microwaving at 10-second intervals until the top has set.
Let cool for 5 minutes. Top with more chocolate chips, ice cream, whipped cream, berries and/or chocolate syrup if you'd like.
