When I was in college, my friends and I had unlimited access to our dining hall. Some nights, we would raid the hall as if we were shopping for ingredients ... but not for cooking — for skin care.
One of us would have a stash of random fruits, the other a cup of oatmeal, and someone else would have multiple packs of sugar and honey. We'd take these things back to our dorm and whip up some DIY skin care concoctions right in our tiny rooms. It was our own version of spa night.

This DIY honey oatmeal sugar scrub is an ode to those college dorm memories. It's also a recipe that my friends and I used quite often! This scrub is very simple to make, requiring only five ingredients and a few minutes.
The scrub lasts about 2 weeks in the fridge and can be used on both your face and body. I like to scrub it in and then let it sit on my skin for a few minutes before rinsing it off. It's a great scrub to make at home, and it also makes the cutest present for friends.

Things You'll Need
1 cup oat flour
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 Tbsp. coconut oil, melted
4 Tbsp. honey
5 Tbsp. water
1. Combine the flour and sugar
In a large bowl, stir together the oat flour and granulated sugar.
Tip
No oat flour? You can add whole oats to a blender or food processor and blitz until you get a powder.
2. Add the coconut oil and honey
Stir in melted coconut oil and honey until mostly combined. It will be a bit chunky.
3. Mix in water
Add water, mix until combined, and transfer to a storage container. It will be liquidy. You can use the scrub as is, but if you prefer it to be thicker, let it set in the fridge for about 20 minutes before using it.
You can use the scrub on your face or body as an exfoliator. I like to let it sit on my skin for 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing it off.
Tip
Store the scrub in the fridge for up to 5 days.
