Did you know that it's possible to make a single cinnamon roll in the microwave? And not only that, but you can make the dough from scratch with just five ingredients — no yeast or rising required.
It might sound too good to be true, but with this single-serving cinnamon roll recipe, it's totally doable. Simply prepare the dough, slice it into strips, and add a cinnamon sugar filling. Once you "bake" it in the microwave, the combination will transform into a fluffy and sweet treat.

Top it off with a two-ingredient glaze and you've got a mini homemade cinnamon roll! Here's how to make it in less than 10 minutes.
Quick Recipe Overview
SERVINGS: 1 mini cinnamon roll
PREP TIME: 8 minutes
COOK TIME: 1 1/2 minutes
TOTAL TIME: 9 1/2 minutes
Cinnamon Roll Dough
Things You'll Need
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
2 Tbsp. milk
Tip
Feel free to use gluten-free all-purpose flour and nondairy butter and milk if needed.
1. Mix the dry ingredients
In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk well to combine.
2. Add the wet ingredients
Add the melted butter and milk.
3. Form the dough
Stir until the ingredients start to clump together. Eventually, you'll need to use your hands to properly combine the dough. Avoid overkneading it.
4. Roll and slice the dough
On a silicone mat or sheet of parchment paper, roll out the dough into an oval shape. Slice the dough widthwise into three equal-size strips.
Cinnamon Sugar Filling
Things You'll Need
1 Tbsp. unsalted butter
1 Tbsp. brown sugar (light or dark)
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1. Combine the filling ingredients
In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon.
2. Warm it in the microwave
Heat it in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds or until the butter is fully melted. Whisk to combine.
3. Spread it on the dough
Spread the cinnamon filling on the middle strip of dough.
4. Make the cinnamon roll
Roll up the middle strip.
Spread cinnamon filling on a second strip of dough. Place the roll at one end, lining up the straight edges, and roll to combine the two pieces.
Repeat with the third strip to complete the cinnamon roll.
5. Microwave the cinnamon roll
Place the cinnamon roll in a greased ramekin. You can scoop any extra cinnamon filling on top.
Heat it in the microwave for 90 seconds or until the cinnamon roll puffs up and the dough looks dry. If the dough is not fully cooked, reheat at 10-second intervals.
Tip
To check the cinnamon roll for doneness, insert a toothpick in the center. It should come out clean.
Glaze
Things You'll Need
2 Tbsp. powdered sugar
1/2 Tbsp. milk
1. Combine powdered sugar and milk
In a small bowl, whisk the powdered sugar and milk together.
Tip
For a thinner glaze, add another teaspoon of milk.
2. Add the glaze
Drizzle the glaze on top of the warm cinnamon roll. Enjoy!
