Apple season is officially here, meaning it's time to make apple cinnamon crisp! But if you don't have enough time — or apples — to make a full batch, you'll want to try this single-serve version.
Ready in less than eight minutes, this recipe yields just enough apple cinnamon crisp for one person. What's more, it "bakes" in the microwave, so you won't have to bother preheating the oven. All you need to do is soften the apples in the microwave, add a cinnamon crumb topping, and heat everything in the microwave once more. The result is a sweet and spiced dessert that tastes just like fall.

Quick Recipe Overview
SERVINGS: 1 mini apple cinnamon crisp
PREP TIME: 5 minutes
COOK TIME: 2 1/2 minutes
TOTAL TIME: 7 1/2 minutes
Apple Cinnamon Crisp Filling
Things You'll Need
1 medium apple, cored, peeled, and diced
1 Tbsp. brown sugar, light or dark
2 tsp. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 Tbsp. unsalted butter, cubed
Tip
You can leave the apple unpeeled if you'd like. This recipe can also be made with gluten-free all-purpose flour.
1. Mix the apple and butter
In a bowl, toss the apple and butter together.
Tip
You can do this step in the ramekin in which you plan to cook the apple crisp, but it might be difficult to mix the ingredients. It's easier to do it in a bigger bowl.
2. Heat the apples
Transfer the apple and butter mixture to a 10-ounce microwave-safe ramekin.
Heat the apples in the microwave on high for 1 minute. If the apples aren't soft and easily pierced with a fork, repeat for another 30 seconds.
3. Add the remaining ingredients
While the apples are still warm, add the flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Toss until the ingredients form a sticky sauce that coats the apples. Set it aside.
Cinnamon Crumble Topping
Things You'll Need
3 Tbsp. oats
2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp. brown sugar, light or dark
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 Tbsp. cold unsalted butter, cubed
Tip
Again, feel free to use gluten-free all-purpose flour and oats.
1. Mix the dry ingredients
In a bowl, add the oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
2. Add the butter
Add the cubed butter. Using a fork or your fingers, combine the butter with the dry ingredients or until the mixture is crumbly.
