Straw can be a charming decoration come autumn, perfect to spread on the floor for a Halloween party or other fall event. If you don't want the mess of real straw from a farm, make your own fake straw. You can use raffia, which is a type of plastic string found at most craft stores, to create the perfect autumn decor. You can also get kids in on the action, letting them try their hand at helping out with this craft.
Step 1
Cut up a few balls of raffia, making each strand about 3 feet long. Continue until you have a few hundred strands of raffia.

Step 2
Lay an old sheet on the lawn and spread the raffia strands out in an even layer. Spray a layer of yellow spray paint over the raffia to make it look more like straw. Let it dry at least 12 hours.
Step 3
Sprinkle the raffia "straw" on the ground for an autumn or Halloween decoration.
Step 4
Group the raffia "straw" in bunches to make bundles of straw. Wrap a length of twine around the center of each bundle to keep it intact.
