When looking for a gift for a baby shower, homemade gifts offer choices that step away from the traditional gifts. Washcloth ducks are both attractive and functional. The body of the duck allows you to place a real or plastic ice cube in it, letting you soothe boo-boos without freezing your fingers on the ice. Specialty boutiques sell boo-boo animals. However, making your own for a shower gift is less expensive and takes little time to create.
Step 1
Place an adult-sized washcloth flat on your work surface. Choose any washcloth color or pattern.

Step 2
Roll the left-bottom corner toward the top-right corner to create a long, rolled tube.
Step 3
Fold the tube in half, positioning the folded end down and the loose ends up. The folded end becomes the duck's body.
Step 4
Fold the loose ends over to make a rough "M" shape. Fold it so the loose ends are halfway down the duck's body.
Step 5
Wrap a rubber band around the washcloth "M" one-third of the way from the top. Make the rubber band as tight as you can. The washcloth above the rubber band becomes the head. The two loose ends of the washcloth are the duck's wings.
Step 6
Cut a 1/4-inch by 9-inch piece of satin ribbon. Wrap the ribbon around the rubber band and tie it into a bow. Apply a dot of hot glue to the back of the bow and press it against the washcloth to secure it permanently.
Step 7
Apply hot glue between the creases of the washcloth on the front and the back of the head. Press the creases into itself to create a smooth surface.
Step 8
Apply hot glue to the back of two small googly eyes. Press the eyes to the head of the duck.
Step 9
Cut two 1/2-inch by 1/2-inch bill shapes from a piece of orange felt. Apply hot glue to the backside of the bill pieces and press them to the duck's head, below the eyes. Position them so they make a "V" shape with the center point of the "V" against the duck's face.
Step 10
Cut out two 1/2-inch by 1/2-inch webbed feet from an orange piece of felt. Attach the feet to the bottom of the duck using more hot glue.
Tip
To use for boo-boos, place an ice cube in the center of the duck’s body.
