Schlage manufactures a variety of door handles and hardware for internal and external door installations. The company's products are designed for do-it-yourself consumers and professional contractors, meaning almost anyone can install a Schlage door handle. Over time, with repeated opening and closing, the handle and knob assembly may loosen and begin to wobble. Tightening the hardware takes only a few minutes.
Step 1
Turn the knob on the Schlage assembly or press the thumb lever on top of the handle to disengage the catch and open the door.

Step 2
Tighten the two screws above and below the brass or stainless steel catch on the edge of the door, twisting each screw clockwise.
Step 3
Twist the screws clockwise on the inside of the door in the faceplate surrounding the Schlage knob. This tightens the two threaded bolts that extend through the door to the knob plate on the front side.
Step 4
Tighten the screws or slotted bolts in the faceplate at the top and bottom of the handle on the front door. On curved handles that attach directly to the door, the screws may be found in the top and bottom of the handle itself if there is no surrounding plate.
