Things You'll Need

  • Felt polishing cloth

  • Dremel rotary tool

  • Polishing bit

Dremel is well known for its lightweight hand-held rotary tools. They are especially handy for small jobs around the house and come with a variety of bits that do everything from drill to sand. Dremel 421 polish is used in conjunction with the rotary tool to polish away imperfections in metals or plastics, such as oxidation or rust spots. It comes in an easy to apply paste form and must be used correctly to reap its full benefits.

Step 2

Apply a small amount of 421 compound to the area you wish to polish with a felt cloth. Use just enough to cover the area and not so much that it drips off.

Step 3

Fit a cloth or felt polishing bit into the Dremel tool. Set it to a low speed and polish the area in a circular motion. Gradually move the speed setting to medium while moving the tool around the object constantly.

Step 4

Wipe away any excess 421 compound once the imperfections are removed from the object. Rinse away any excess compound from the polishing bit and allow it to air dry.

Warning

Wear goggles when using a Dremel tool to avoid injury.
