Replicating this sauce at home requires only a handful of ingredients and 10 minutes of time.
Step 1
Combine 1 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup water, garlic, ginger, brown sugar, molasses and orange zest in the saucepan.

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Whisk together the cornstarch and remaining 1/4 cup water.
Step 3
Pour the combined cornstarch and water into the boiling sauce mixture. Reduce the heat to medium.
Step 4
Continue to heat the sauce mixture for 5 minutes at a simmer, whisking the entire time, until slightly thickened. Remove sauce from heat, and let it stand while it continues to thicken. Whisk in 1 to 2 tbsp. water if the mixture becomes too thick for use.
