Method One
Igloos are a distinctive shape that most people recognize. They are normally built as temporary shelters by nomadic tribes. Igloos can be time consuming to build and do not last long. They melt as the temperatures change. There are ways to make igloos at home that are far easier and will last a lot longer, such as making one out of cotton balls.
Method One
Step 1
Cut the rim of a Styrofoam cup just below the lip with a knife; this is usually about 1/2 inch. Cut the rim in half to make two U shapes.

Step 2
Place the bottom part of the cut cup on a paper plate. The bottom of the cup should face up while the open end should be against the plate. Use a hot glue gun to glue the cup into place.
Step 3
Hot glue the two U shapes together so that you have one U shape that is double wide.
Step 4
Place the glued U's next to the upturned, glued cup. Hot glue them into place. You will need to put glue on the plate as well as on the bottom half of the cut.
Step 5
Attach cotton balls all over the cup and U shape using hot glue to complete your igloo.
Method Two
Step 1
Cut a 3-inch Styrofoam ball in half with a serrated knife. Save the other half to create a second igloo.
Step 2
Attach cotton balls all around the ball half, avoiding the flat bottom you just cut. Use either craft glue or a hot glue gun.
Step 3
Cut a cotton ball in half with a pair of scissors. Glue it along the bottom of the Styrofoam half ball. It will stick out to give you a place to make the igloo entrance. Glue more cotton balls around it.
Tip
For either method, you can decorate it further by adding sequins or glitter.
Igloos can be placed on cotton batting to make snowscapes. Then, set up small Christmas village decorations such as trees.
