How to Fix Grits & Eggs in Microwave

Things You'll Need

  • 2 small bowls

  • Spoon

  • 1/4 cup grits

  • 1 egg

  • Water/milk

  • Salt

  • Pepper

  • Butter

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. However, it is also a meal that happens during a busy time of day. For that reason, many people often neglect breakfast. You just don't have time in the morning to make a meal. Well, there are no more excuses. Thanks to the microwave, you can now cook a quick breakfast of grits and eggs that doesn't require spending time laboring over the stove.

Grits

Step 1

Place 1/4 cup of grits inside of a small plastic or glass bowl.

Step 2

Add 1 cup of water to the grits. For creamier grits, add milk instead of water.

Step 3

Add a pinch of salt inside the bowl. If you like, you can also add a small pat of butter.

Step 4

Cook the grits in the microwave for 2 minutes.

Step 5

Remove the grits from the microwave, and stir them.

Step 6

Heat the grits in the microwave for another 2 minutes.

Step 7

Remove the grits from the microwave oven. Allow the grits to cool before eating.

Eggs

Step 1

Crack open the shell of your egg. Empty the egg into a small plastic or glass bowl.

Add 2 tsp. of water or milk inside the bowl. Although they are optional, water and milk will cause your eggs to be fluffy and light. Sprinkle salt and pepper inside of the bowl if you desire to add flavor to the eggs.

Step 3

Use a spoon to stir the egg, water and seasonings together inside of the bowl.

Step 4

Place the bowl inside of the microwave, and set the timer. For a 600-watt microwave oven, set the timer for 45 seconds.

Step 5

Remove the bowl from the microwave, and stir the contents that are in the bowl. Place the bowl back inside of the microwave for another 60 seconds to finish cooking. Remove the bowl from the microwave, and stir the eggs to scramble.

Warning

Do not place an egg that is in its shell inside the microwave because it will explode.
