Vinyl decals and stickers customize skating and snowboarding helmets. Helmets are just the start when using stickers; use them on bikes, boards and windshields to demonstrate support for your favorite brands or sayings. Applying stickers is an easy process that requires little practice to perfect. As easy as it is, you may want to practice once or twice on a practice surface to make sure you smoothly apply the sticker without any creases or folds.
Step 1
Clean the surface where you will be placing the sticker. Dirt will cause the sticker to lift and lose its surface contact. Use a damp towel to wipe the surface down and allow it to dry completely.

Step 2
Remove the backside of the sticker. There will be two wax paper-like backings. The lighter-colored side is the back. If you are putting a decal with words on it, the letters should be backward. Try not to touch the invisible transfer tape--this will cause it to lose stickiness.
Step 3
Apply the sticker to the curved surface in a left to right fashion, making sure there are no air bubbles or wrinkles created.
Step 4
Use the credit card to rub the sticker smoothly over the surface. The hard edge of the credit card will iron out any bubbles or wrinkles you are not aware of.
Step 5
Remove the white paper front from the decal. Start or the left and pull it to the right in one smooth movement.
Step 6
Examine the decal for a smooth surface with no bubbles. Use the utility knife to prick a pinhole into any bubbles and use the credit card to remove the air by pressing down from the outside of the bubble toward the center, where the pinhole is.
