Tulle fabric
Spray starch
Tulle fabric is known for its versatility, whether its used to fill out a wedding dress, add drama to a ballet tutu or bring whimsy to smaller craft projects. The fabric comes in a variety of colors, lengths, widths and styles to please any crafter or designer. Make tulle stiff but still pliable with just a few simple steps.
Step 1
Purchase spray starch in an aerosol can, which makes it easier to spray onto the tulle and will give you a more even coat.

Step 2
Clean the tulle if you would like before starching. Mix cold water and mild laundry soap, then gently hand wash and rinse the tulle. Hang the tulle upright and allow it to air dry.
Step 3
Spray the starch onto the tulle in a thin, even coating. Let the tulle dry completely. Drying times will vary depending on what type of spray starch you're using.
Step 4
Spray more starch onto the tulle if you want it stiffer. Let it dry again and add additional coats as desired.
Tip
You also can buy pre-stiffened tulle. It can be ordered online or found at specialty fabric stores.
