Primer bulb
Snow throwers, also called snow blowers, are machines used to remove and relocate snow from a surface. They usually have rotating metal scoops that pick up the snow and drive it out of the top machine. Most snow throwers must be primed and the prime bulb is the device that is depressed to pump gas into the engine so that the snow thrower is easily started. Occasionally, these snow thrower primer bulbs must be replaced. The parts and tools necessary to replace the bulb primer can be purchased at most online and local hardware stores.
Step 1
Cut off all power going to the snow thrower. If the snow thrower is gas-powered, remove a spark plug from the thrower to ensure that it will not start up unexpectedly.

Step 2
Remove the cover of the snow thrower by removing the screws that hold the cover in place.
Step 3
Remove the screws surrounding the primer bulb. Some model primer bulbs are held in place with c-clips. These are removed by simply pressing down on the primer bulb and lifting one side of the bulb out of the clip.
Step 4
Place the new primer bulb into position and replace screws. For c-clip type primer bulbs, place one side of the primer bulb into c-clip at a time.
Step 5
Test the primer bulb to ensure it is working properly and moving fuel into the engine. Replace the cover of the snow thrower and reconnect the power or spark plug to the snow thrower. Start the snow thrower to ensure the primer bulb is working properly.
