Champion gun safes are very high quality and most have a 2-hour fire rating. High-end models have battery-operated keypad combination locks. As with any keypad safe, changing the battery is a simple process that takes just a few minutes to complete.
Step 1
Unlock the safe and open the door. The safe should be opened throughout the battery changing procedure to prevent getting locked out off the safe accidentally.

Step 2
Open the battery door on the keypad. The battery is located on the underside of the keypad. Slide open the little door and the 9-volt battery should drop out into your hand. Alternatively, if your safe does not have a battery door, gently slide the entire keypad unit up along the door of the safe. This will free the keypad from the door and expose the battery holder on the back of the keypad.
Step 3
Install a new battery. Insert a new battery either behind the keypad or in the underside battery compartment. Type in your combination and make sure that the safe bolts unlock before shutting the door. Your safe will not forget your combination when you change the battery. Shut the safe and lock it again. Change the battery on an annual basis.
