Things You'll Need
Craft doll hair
Pencil or chalk
Tacky craft glue
Scissors
When it comes to making homemade dolls, one of the most challenging parts of the process is gluing the hair to the head in a way that's both secure and attractive. Though you want a doll's hair to look natural, gluing the hairs with natural, individual spacing is obviously a practical impossibility. Instead, glue the hair in layers to create a look that closely resembles that of natural hair and takes little time or special skill to achieve.
Step 1
Create six equal bundles of hair. Together, they should add up to the mass of hair you want your finished doll to have. The hair should be roughly 20 percent longer than you want the finished hair to be, giving you room to trim later.

Step 2
Draw a line down the middle of the doll's head in pencil or chalk, starting at the scalp just above the forehead and running to the back of the head, positioned just like a center part.
Step 3
Apply a line of craft glue to either side of the part line, each line parallel to the part line.
Step 4
Glue one bundle of hair to each side of the part line. Spread out the hair on each side so that it stretches evenly from the front of the head to the end of the crown (just before the head slopes down in back). Press the hair into place by holding the bundles perpendicular to the doll's scalp, as if you were trying to poke the head with the ends of the hairs. Let dry before you continue.
Step 5
Attach another bundle of hair on each side of the head, beneath the first. Apply in the same manner with a line of glue extending to the back of the doll's head, just above the ear.
Step 6
Glue the remaining two bundles of hair to the back of the doll's head. Layer one bundle over the other in a manner similar to how you did the sides, but spread the hair out a bit more vertically.
Step 7
Trim the doll's hair to the length you want it and style if desired. If you want bangs, pull some hair from the top side pieces over the face and trim. Make curls or waves using rag curls (a curling iron will usually melt doll hair).
