Patio steaks are cuts of beef that originate from the shoulder blade area. They also are commonly referred to as "flat iron steaks" of "flank steaks." This cut of meat is popular because it is relatively inexpensive and flavorful. The best way to cook patio steaks is to employ methods that will maximize the steaks' tenderness and natural flavors. You can prepare flank steaks simply with minimal ingredients.
Step 1

Step 2
Place the steak in the refrigerator and allow it to marinate for one to two hours.
Step 3
Salt and pepper the steak lightly to taste.
Step 4
Grill the steak for four to eight minutes on each side. Four minutes on each side will produce a steak that is medium rare, whereas eight minutes on each side will produce a steak that is well done. Medium rare preparation usually results in a tenderer steak.
