Husqvarna Mower Height Settings – Leveling
Video of the Day
Mower decks on riding lawn mowers should be set at the correct level to improve cutting efficiency and quality. If a deck is uneven, the blades will cut the grass too low and can damage the lawn. Husqvarna riding lawn mower decks need to be lower in the front than in the back, and this can be done by leveling the deck.

Always be sure to turn off the ignition and wait until the engine has cooled before proceeding. You will also need to take out the key and put it somewhere for safekeeping. Open the engine hood and remove the spark plug boot and you will be ready for the next steps.
To get started, locate the routing diagram in front of the deck and reroute the belt as shown. Then, reinstall the spring that connects the idler arm to the deck, stretching it to connect with the bracket edge spring. Find the cotter pin at the left side of the deck and remove it.
Husqvarna Mower Deck Height Adjustment
For a Husqvarna mower deck height adjustment, remove the blades and hold them horizontally on the ground. Using a tape measure, measure the distance from the top to the ground. To adjust the blade distance, place an adjustable wrench on the lift-link adjustment nut and turn clockwise to lift the deck. If you turn it counterclockwise, the deck will lower. Make sure both sides correspond to the same height.
Again, make sure that the front is slightly lower. The front should be 1/8 to 1/2 inch lower than the back. Now that the blades are adjusted, you can work on adjusting the mower deck. Use the wrench to loosen the jam nut that is on the front link adjustment of the deck. Turn it counterclockwise until the deck begins to move.
Adjust the inner/adjustment nut clockwise to lift up the front of the deck and continue adjusting until the deck is in the right position. You can tighten the jam nut by turning it clockwise. Now that this part is finished, you can replace the spark plug boot and take the Husqvarna for a test run.
Riding Lawn Mower Maintenance Tips
Making these adjustments yourself can save money, as can proper maintenance. To keep your riding lawn mower in the best shape, experts recommend regularly cleaning the mower deck by removing the belt guards and blowing off any debris in the pulleys and belts. Spark plugs, oil filters and fuel filters should also be replaced according to the manufacturer's schedule.
If you need to replace dull blades, remove the mower deck first and work from there instead of beneath the mower. Air filters should be cleaned at least once a month, and new grease should be added to the fittings during oil changes. Also be sure to check the tire pressure from time to time.
