Things You'll Need

  • Egg poacher with removable cups

  • Small bowl

  • Nonstick cooking spray

Try a poached egg on top of a salad for a healthy meal.

Poached eggs can be a healthier alternative to fried or scrambled eggs because there's no added calories or fat. They also serve as a blank canvas for whatever spices or sauces you may want to add. While you don't need an egg poacher to get the job done, having one with removable cups can make the job easier. So get those eggs cracking, find yourself an egg poacher and try your hand at this egg-cooking method.

Step 2

Crack the egg into a small bowl. This way, bad eggs don't end up in the poacher. Also, if accidentally you break the yolk in the bowl rather than the poacher, it's easier to clean up and start over.

Step 4

Fill the bottom of the poacher with about a half inch of water and bring it to a boil.
