If you're a fan of The Sims computer game, then a Sims costume for Halloween or another festive dress-up gathering is an easy go-to costume. With just some simple materials, you can make a Sims headband with the diamond-shaped mood indicator on it. In the game, the Sims characters walk around with diamond-shaped mood indicators over their heads that signal their mental state, needs, and overall physical and emotional health. By making one of your own, you can wear your own clothes and still be in costume.

Sims Costume Basics
Sims characters don't have distinctive outfits most of the time. Certain outfits come with specific game add-ons or packages, but unless you're attending an event full of other gamers, they may not recognize what you're going for, making your costume appear all the more strange.

Instead, go for solid-colored, generic clothing. If you have a style you like or a part of your body you want to show off or highlight, do it. Try to wear comfortable, solid-colored clothing. A pair of jeans and a solid shirt work best for a Sims costume. After all, one of the best parts of this costume is that you have the option to be comfortable.
Buying a Sims Headband
If you're not a handy person and even these instructions, simple as they may sound, seem daunting, don't fret. You can certainly buy a Sims headband on Amazon or even at a local Halloween costume and supply store. Some of them are even available with interchangeable gems. Pair the headband with generic clothes for a comfortable costume you won't mind wearing all night long.
How to Make a Sims Costume
Things You'll Need
6-inch-tall Styrofoam diamond
Emerald green Mylar sheets
Scissors
Craft glue
Wire hanger
Wire cutter
Headband
Step 1: Decorate Your Diamond
The first step is to use Mylar to cover your diamond in the desired colors. Some people may plan to be a happy Sim all night and only wear green, but you can be a bit more playful and change it into red or orange throughout the night.
Step 2: Glue on the Mylar
Use one color for each diamond, attaching the Mylar sheets using craft glue.
Step 3: Cut Wire for the Headband
Next, use wire cutters to cut a straight, 12-inch piece from a wire hanger. Carefully wrap one end of the wires around the middle of the headband several times.
Step 4: Attach the Wire to the Diamond
Next, take the other end of the wire and push it into the low point on the diamond. It should go almost all the way in so that it appears that the diamond is floating just above your head though not quite attached physically.
Step 5: Wear Your Headband and Change Colors
If you want to change your mood throughout the night or the event, follow designations from The Sims for using different colors of Mylar sheets. Green means great. Yellow means average or good. Orange means not so good, and red means extremely bad.
Keep in mind that these moods might relate to any variety of emotions. Someone who is orange might have all his basic physical needs met but may have been scorned by his crush. Someone who is yellow might be severely hungry but enjoying such a good time with friends that her mood is bolstered. Just like actual humans, Sims, or simulated humans, have a wide range of feelings.
