Laminating is a useful process that helps preserve paper by waterproofing it and preventing mold, bacteria, rust or other contaminants. Some people choose to cut paper items and then laminate them. This is because the laminate will have a sealed edge where one piece of the plastic laminate fused to the other. This can be time consuming. If you don't want to do this, you can cut laminated paper that has a sealed edge but be aware that it is no longer completely waterproof.
Step 1
Decide how much of a border you want on your laminated paper. Many people leave a 1/8-inch border around the paper.

Step 2
Mark the border with a pencil so you are able to cut in a straight line. This is especially important if you don't have a paper cutter and are using scissors.
Step 3
Cut through the laminate along the line using scissors or a paper cutter. Don't cut though the paper as this will simply cause the paper to fray from the two pieces of laminate.
