Papier-mache, or paper mache, makes use of paper that would otherwise be thrown away, making it eco-friendly. In addition to being eco-friendly, paper mache conforms to any shape it is molded to. A simple cone shape can be formed with paper mache and then decorated with paint and craft supplies to create a Christmas tree, a party hat or any other cone-shaped decorative object you like.
Step 1
Pour 1/2 cup of white glue into a bowl with 1/4 cup of warm water. Stir the mixture with a plastic fork to combine them into a consistent fluid.

Step 2
Cut several pages of an old newspaper into strips with scissors.
Step 3
Lay one sheet of newspaper over a flat workspace.
Step 4
Wrap plastic wrap over a cardboard cone form. You can find these simple forms, usually for less than $1, at any craft supply store. Set the wrapped cone, flat side down on the spread-out newspaper.
Step 5
Dip the cut strips of paper individually into the glue and water mixture. Spread them over the cone shape. Cover the entire cone shape with about three layers of newspaper strips. Allow the paper cone to dry overnight and remove it from the cardboard cone form.
