Venison cube steaks, also referred to as minute steaks, are leaner than beef cube steaks. The cube steaks have a gamey flavor, and are high in protein and iron. When you have a supply of the fresh venison cube steaks, cook them using similar methods as beef cube steaks. The lean venison meat may need to be marinated because the cuts can be tough, and cooking the deer meat hotter than medium heat may increase the gamey flavor.
Fried
Step 1
Combine flour with salt and pepper in a bowl. Dredge the venison cube steaks in the flour mixture to coat them.

Step 2
Add the vegetable oil to the frying pan. Heat the vegetable oil until it reaches 360 degrees F.
Step 3
Place the venison cube steaks into the hot oil. Fry the venison until it appears golden brown on both sides and it reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees F.
Step 4
Remove the cube steaks from the oil. Drain the venison on a plate with paper towels.
Grill
Step 1
Marinate the venison cube steaks with your preferred liquid marinade if you desire. Make a simple marinade by pouring Italian dressing into a bowl. Marinate the cube steaks in the refrigerator for at least four hours. The marinade helps to tenderize the steaks.
Step 2
Heat the gas or charcoal grill to medium heat. Layer the charcoals in a single layer and burn them until a white ash forms on top.
Step 3
Place the venison cube steaks onto the grill for one minute. Turn the cube steaks over with tongs and grill for one minute more.
Step 4
Turn the cube steaks over and grill them for three to five minutes with the lid down.
Step 5
Remove the cube steaks when they are cooked to your preference.
Bake
Step 1
Heat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2
Combine the all-purpose flour and salt in a bowl. Coat both sides of the cube steaks with the mixture.
Step 3
Heat the butter in a skillet. Brown both sides of the cube steaks.
Step 4
Transfer the cube steaks to a baking dish in a single layer. Pour a can of cream of mushroom soup over the cube steaks. Cover the baking pan with aluminum foil.
Step 5
Bake the cube steaks in the oven 35 to 40 minutes or until they reach 160 degrees F.
Tip
Serve the fried venison steaks with gravy.
Pour marinara sauce over the cube steaks instead of cream of mushroom soup when you bake them.
Warning
Overcooking the meat can also cause it to become dried out, which can affect the taste.
