Rayon is a synthetic fiber that has a beautiful drape, but the fabric wrinkles easily. Removing those wrinkles isn't quite as easy as removing wrinkles from fabrics like cotton. In fact, if you don't take a few precautions, you could burn the rayon. Before you reach for the iron, choose one of these methods to ensure you protect your rayon fabric from permanent heat damage.

Tip
Ironing rayon while it's slightly damp will make the ironing process easier.
Method 2: Steam Iron
- Turn a slightly damp rayon garment inside out.
- Place the garment on an ironing board.
- Place a dry pressing cloth onto the garment.
- Use the steam setting on a warm iron to carefully iron the rayon.
- Hang the garment to allow any damp areas to dry.
Warning
Do not iron rayon right side out unless you use a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric. When ironed without a pressing cloth, rayon will gain a shine to the fabric.
