Aluminum soffits can save homeowners money in a variety of ways. These soffits allow air to circulate through the joists of a home's roof, are more durable than wooden varieties and require minimal maintenance. However, some upkeep is required. Of particular importance is keeping your aluminum soffits clean. This can be accomplished with a little bit of elbow grease, mild detergents and a few bursts of water. Take time out every six months to clean your aluminum soffits and keep them functional for years to come.
Step 1
Blow out heavy dust and debris. Apply compressed air to soffit vents for a couple seconds. Repeat the process as needed to remove dirt.

Step 2
Use a pressure washer. Fill the pressure washer with water to the fill line. Set the spray to medium and spray the aluminum soffits. Add some dish detergent to the water if stains are tough.
Step 3
Use a cleaning brush with strong bristles. Place dish soap on the brush and scrub any heavily soiled areas on the aluminum soffits.
Step 4
Use a soft cloth. Dip the cloth in water and add dish detergent to the cloth, then scrub the aluminum soffits. Add bleach to the water if the soffits are white.
Tip
If you do not own an air compressor, rent one from a hardware or home store.
