Craft Ideas Using Golf Balls

If someone in your house is an avid golfer, chances are you have a lot of spare balls hanging around. The balls might be old, used or extra but whatever the case, they can be used for creative craft projects. Get kids involved in making golf crafts and present them to the golfer in your life as a gift.

Kids will get a kick out of golf ball art. To do this, place some white paper into a shallow box. Next, pour paints of different colors into separate bowls. Place a golf ball into each color and roll it around to cover it completely with paint. Put a few of the balls into the box and move the box around so the painted balls create a design on the paper. Mix and match colors for different results. Repeat as much as you want to make a cool art project.

A golf ball snowman can be a festive holiday decoration. To make the snowman, glue two balls together, one on top of the other. You will need strong craft glue because golf balls are a little too heavy for regular glue. An old black film canister can serve as a snowman hat, so glue that on the top of the snowman. If you don't have a film canister, create a hat using black construction paper and tape. Using a small paintbrush and black paint, draw eyes and a mouth on the top golf ball. Paint a few black buttons on the bottom ball. Orange paint can be used for a carrot nose, and an actual ribbon tied around the snowman's neck, between the two golf balls, can look like a winter scarf.

Take some gently used golf balls that might have been shoved in the back of the closet and give them new life. Let kids loose with permanent markers and have them design their own looks for the golf balls. Use different colored markers to color each dimple of the ball and make it multicolored, or color the dimples to create pictures. Monogram the balls with initials by coloring the dimples to form letters.

Make a wreath to hang on the door of a golf fanatic's home for the holidays. Get an artificial evergreen wreath base from a craft store. Use a high-temperature hot glue gun to decorate the wreath with golf balls, golf tees and small pencils. Only use a few balls or the wreath will be too heavy. Add some holiday decor to the wreath by gluing on holly berries, small ornaments or ribbons and jingle bells. Allow the wreath to dry overnight before hanging.
