Step 2: Separate the Feathers
Lay your feathers on the foam board in layers of circles starting from the outside and moving to the center. Count how many feathers you need in each circular row and separate them into groups according to their row. This 20-by-20-inch frame fits four rows of feathers.
Tip
Feathers are easy to find on sites like Ebay or Amazon.
Step 3: Spay Paint Feathers
Using the first color for the outer row, hold your feather by the tip and lightly spray on one coat of paint. Repeat this for the next row and color until all feathers are painted.
Tip
Use similar shades of the same color to achieve an ombre affect.
Step 4: Position Feathers and Glue
Once the feathers are dry, lay the outer row on the foam board in a circle. Using your hot glue gun, glue the tip of each feather to the board. You can be generous with the glue since the tips will be covered up by the next row of feathers. Repeat this step until you have glued each row of feathers down and have reached the center.
Tip
You may need to cut the tips of the feathers off for the center row so they fit in a tight circle.
Step 5: Finish the Look
Hot glue a small round object, like a faux gem stone or medallion, to the center of your feathers to cover the tips from your last row. This will give the piece a finished look. Hang and style your stunning new artwork.
