Tulle is an inexpensive yet elegant addition to your wedding decorations. The thin, gauzy material is available in bolts of varying widths, making it easy to work with and requiring minimal cutting. Draped onto the pews in the church or attached as large bows, tulle softens the harsh lines of the pews and brings your wedding colors to the existing décor. Finding a way to attach the tulle that is acceptable to the church and doesn't damage the pews is the greatest challenge to using this decorating element.
Step 1
Purchase plastic or metal pew clips from a wedding supplier or florist. Choose clear plastic if you are concerned the clips will be visible or decorative metal to use them as a visible element in the decoration.

Step 2
Attach the tulle to the clip by draping it over the small lower hook for swags. Disguise the lower hook by tying a tulle or ribbon bow around it.
Step 3
Create your bow from the tulle first, then slip the lower hook into the bow's knot if you are using large tulle bows as opposed to tulle swags. Fluff the bow around the hook to disguise it.
Step 4
Slip the larger upper hook over the side of the pew to attach. Slide either over the arm rest if applicable or the top side of the pew near the aisle.
Step 5
Fluff the bows a final time to the desired fullness. Adjust swags so they drape evenly between each pew.
Tip
Use pew clips with attached floral foam for displaying either real or silk flowers with your tulle decorations.
Tie the tulle swags around the hooks if you are concerned they may slide off.
Use two different colors of tulle to add fullness and interest to your swags and bows.
Attach tulle only to the aisle side of the pews to save money.
Warning
Metal clips may scratch the finish on the pews. Use stick-on padding to avoid this.
