    Sometimes it is better to repair a metal roof than to replace it.
  
 Repairing nail holes in a metal roof is an inexpensive alternative to replacing portions of the roof. Repairing holes in a roof requires that you to go on the roof itself, so if this is a problem, hire a professional to do the repairs.
Step 1
Use the putty knife to fill the whole with putty cement.

Step 2
Cut a 4 inch square out of the sheet metal using the tin snips.
Step 3
Apply urethane caulk using the caulk gun to the back of the square of sheet metal and place it over the putty-filled hole.
Step 4
Wipe away the excess caulk.
