Mirrors are an easy way to make a small room appear larger, and add a bit of dimension and elegance to any room. However, they are usually much heavier than most pictures or other art pieces, and thus, require special care when hanging. Oval-shaped mirrors, in particular, must be hung properly to avoid falling. Luckily, you can avoid seven years of bad luck by following these simple steps to ensure your oval mirror is hung correctly and safely.
Step 1
Determine where you are going to hang the mirror. Use the stud finder to locate wall studs in the area you wish to place the mirror. Mark these. If no studs are available, ensure that you have sturdy anchors.

Step 2
Have a helper hold the mirror up to the wall, and trace around the mirror very lightly with a pencil. Set the mirror aside.
Step 3
Install mirror clips at the very bottom of the oval and on both sides, being sure to anchor them securely. Do not tighten the screws. Erase the pencil lines you have drawn on the wall.
Step 4
Place the mirror into the mirror clips that are already on the wall, and install a fourth clip at the very top of the oval.
Step 5
Have your helper hold the mirror, while you tighten the screws and ensure that the mirror clips are holding the mirror correctly.
Tip
Additional clips may be added to the bottom curves, especially useful for heavier mirrors. Ensure that someone is holding the mirror on the wall at all times until it is hung securely to avoid it falling.
